International Museum of Women to Host Fifth Annual Gala on March 4

A Celebration of International Women's Day

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- An expected 500 people will celebrate International Women's Day at the International Museum of Women's (I.M.O.W.) fifth Annual Gala on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. The evening's featured speaker is the founder of Women for Women International, I.M.O.W. Global Council member and champion of women survivors of war, Zainab Salbi. Mistress of ceremonies is Emmy-winning journalist Jan Yanehiro.

This diverse gathering includes civic leaders, philanthropists and cultural leaders. The gala's honorary committee is led by I.M.O.W. Board member Jennifer Siebel Newsom, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, Chief of Protocol for the State of California and San FranciscoCharlotte Mailliard Shultz, and former U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz, and includes Senator Barbara Boxer, Congresswoman Lois Capps, Senator Dianne Feinstein, San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris, Chief Joanne Hayes-White, SFFD, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Senator Mark Leno, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, and Congresswoman Lynn C. Woolsey. Event chairs are Stacey C. Fleece and Marie Louise Hurabiell.

The event's Presenting Sponsor is Wells Fargo Bank. Entertainment includes a visual presentation from I.M.O.W. exhibitions www.imow.org/exhibitions. Proceeds benefit I.M.O.W.'s exhibitions and programs for 2009.
